EDGNEX will contribute to Saudi Arabia's transformation into a global AI and cloud computing hub, creating multiple jobs through its investment and empowering its digital future.

RIYADH, 10th February 2025 – EDGNEX, the digital infrastructure arm of DAMAC Group, has announced plans at LEAP Saudi Arabia 2025 to deploy 500MW of future data center capacity across Saudi Arabia by 2030, with a strong focus on serving the Kingdom’s AI and cloud computing needs. The announcement will further solidify the Group’s role in advancing the Kingdom’s digital economy. EDGNEX's existing portfolio includes operations in 10 countries: UAE, KSA, Turkey, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Greece, Spain, Finland and Italy, with a projected capacity exceeding 1000MW+. Current operational data centers include over 15MW in Saudi Arabia (Dammam and Riyadh) and 12MW in Thailand, which will be operational by Q1 2025. By 2026, EDGNEX aims to have over 300MW+ operational capacity globally.

This latest announcement in Saudi Arabia will generate multiple high-value technology and engineering jobs and engage a full ecosystem of vendors, from engineers and consultants to equipment manufacturers and contractors, further boosting local industry.

A Visionary Market Ready for Expansion Saudi Arabia’s data center market is experiencing rapid and sustained growth, driven by a unique combination of visionary leadership, regulatory support, and rising demand for digital services. Referring to a Roland Berger industry report, the Kingdom benefits from a favourable regulatory framework, including the Cloud Computing Regulatory Framework (CCRF) and the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL), which provide an attractive environment for data center investments. These policies, alongside Vision 2030’s ambitious digital transformation goals, position Saudi Arabia as a global hub for data-driven industries.

The Kingdom’s AI market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 29% by 2030 while spending on public cloud services is expected to increase at a CAGR of 23% until 2029. These indicators underscore Saudi Arabia’s emergence as a fertile ground for world-class data center developments.

Mr. Hussain Sajwani, Founder of DAMAC Group, commented: “Saudi Arabia is shaping the future of digital infrastructure with a combination of forward-thinking policies and a rapidly growing market. The Kingdom’s regulatory framework and Vision 2030 targets create a foundation for unparalleled growth. The surging demand for new technologies further cements its position as a premier destination for data center investments. This is a rare opportunity to build the ecosystems that will drive the future of digital innovation on a global scale.”

Building on Global Successes EDGNEX’s announcement at LEAP 2025 is the latest step for EDGNEX as part of its global expansion.

Most recently, in January 2025, the company revealed its $20 billion U.S. investment at a high-profile press conference hosted by President Donald Trump, showcasing its bold ambition to redefine the digital landscape and drive innovation in one of the world’s most dynamic markets. In 2024 in Europe, the company launched a €400 million state-of-the-art data center in Madrid, addressing the region’s increasing demand for scalable and sustainable digital infrastructure. Further reinforcing its presence in Southeast Europe, EDGNEX entered a €150 million joint venture in Greece with Public Power Corporation (PPC), emphasising its strategic commitment to developing data center ecosystems in key international markets. In Southeast Asia, specifically Thailand and Indonesia, EDGNEX announced a $3 billion investment to cater to one of the most rapidly growing digital economies globally.

A Vision for the Future The roll-out of 500 MW in Saudi Arabia is a catalyst for growth that will propel the Kingdom as a global leader in digital innovation and sustainability. By creating advanced infrastructure and empowering talent, EDGNEX aligns its ambitions with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 targets, ensuring the Kingdom’s place at the forefront of the digital economy.
